If you want to talk about classic Hollywood, it’s difficult not to mention Marilyn Monroe as one of the most iconic actresses the California film industry has produced.
Born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926, within a few short years of acting, Marilyn Monroe became one of the faces most representative of Hollywood glamour. With unforgettable roles in films like Bus Stop, Some Like It Hot and The Misfits, Monroe is a true Hollywood icon – and, despite her tragically short life, had managed to accrue a long string of anecdotes.

Director Billy Wilder wasn’t annoyed with her, though. Of her performance, he later said that “Anyone can remember lines, but it takes a real artist to come on the set and not know her lines and yet give the performance she did!”
